Among the value-added services that MercadoIT offers to IT integrators, one stands out above the rest because it provides a multitude of benefits. This value-added service is none other than equipment preconfiguration. But what does this service entail? Let us explain.
Imagine you’re an integrator and you’ve won a contract to install and commission a system for a company with offices located around the world. Try to imagine the coordination you’ll need to carry out this project. Sending your own technicians to the various locations and recruiting specialized personnel in each country where the client has an office are just a few of the options for ensuring the project’s success. Both approaches have their pros and cons, but what’s clear is that they’re expensive solutions that can reduce the project’s profit margin.
It is in this type of project that MercadoIT’s equipment preconfiguration service plays a particularly important role. Drawing on MercadoIT’s experience in mass testing of equipment, we have developed a solution that allows any piece of equipment to be preconfigured with a set of data. These range from basic configurations—which allow only remote access and enable the client’s setup to be completed from a centralized location—to final configurations, which allow for turnkey equipment delivery.
How does the preconfiguration service work?
- The customer purchases the equipment at MercadoIT and it tells us that they have to be preconfigured.
- The technical department contacts the customer to determine the scope of the configurations.
- The devices are preconfigured, and the configuration files are sent to the customer for review.
- The client approves the configurations, and the project logistics are arranged.
- At this point, there are several possibilities. The equipment is either shipped directly from MercadoIT to each of the customer’s locations, or all the equipment is shipped to a centralized location at the customer’s site and distributed from there. In the second option, the equipment is shipped clearly labeled to ensure there are no issues with its redistribution.
What are the benefits of the preconfiguration service?
We've already mentioned some of them, but here's a summary:
- Centralized management by the integrator. This avoids or reduces the need to travel or search for specialized personnel at different locations, which simplifies the commissioning process.
- Reduced commissioning time. Although the initial phases of the project take longer, this is offset by a significant reduction in the time required to commission the equipment.
- Cost savings in the recruitment of specialized personnel.
- Improved quality, which leads to a positive customer perception.
